This work is connected to the intricate relationship between society and nature, highlighting the imbalance we currently witness. As a sound artist, I perceive the world primarily through the auditory realm.
The piece’s central theme becomes apparent when one listens to the sound composition performed through speakers, crafted from field recordings captured beneath the sea’s surface. These recordings encompass everything from passing boats to marine life, immersing the audience in an observation of the sea, where industrialization progressively depletes the ocean of its inhabitants. As the composition unfolds, the sounds transition to include life support medical machines and heartbeats, symbolizing the ocean’s struggle for survival.
Simultaneously, the water on the speakers reacts to these sounds, shifting from a balanced state to an uncontrolled surface, serving as a metaphor for the challenges our natural environment faces due to industrialization.
The magnifying glass serves as an invitation to observe a world in the process of becoming increasingly unbalanced.
